Fourth Boxed Art Unveiling at N Railroad & W Church St.
August 20 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 am CDT
It’s time to unveil Boxed Art #4 located at the intersection of Railroad Ave. and Church Street. The box features art by emerging artist, Ke’Shawn Collins, a 2020 graduate of Magnet Academy of Cultural Arts.
Ke’Shawn began painting at the age of thirteen and says his interest in art stemmed from his mom, Lena Collins, who he says encouraged and supported him in his journey to become an artist. Along with painting, he enjoys volunteer opportunities and has participated in various community events. He is also a member of St. Landry Interact Rotary Club and Bully Box, an organization that raises awareness and offers support related to bully prevention.
The Boxed Art project transforms ordinary metal traffic boxes into creative canvases for art that showcase the community’s character and culture. The project is one of the activities for the City’s 300-year celebration. Led by Opelousas Tourism and the Celebrate Opelousas 300 Commission, one of the goals of the Boxed Art project is to enliven community space while showcasing the talent of artists in our area.
